Bankroll & Risk Management
Smart betting starts with managing your bankroll. Here are some guidelines:
Define Your Bankroll
Decide how much money you’re comfortable risking on sports betting. Only wager what you can afford to lose.
Unit Sizing
A unit is a fraction of your bankroll used per bet. For example, if your bankroll is $500 and you choose to bet 1 unit on each Edge List pick, and you define a unit as 1% of your bankroll, each bet would be $5.
Risk Labels
BestBets assigns a risk label to each pick. Low‑risk plays are backed by strong context and stable odds, medium‑risk plays involve more volatility, and high‑risk plays carry larger variance. Adjust your unit size based on the risk level.
Don’t Chase Losses
It’s natural to want to win back what you’ve lost, but chasing often leads to larger losses. Stick to your unit sizes and edge threshold.
Track Your Results
Keep a record of each bet: the odds you took, the closing line and the outcome. Over time, this helps you evaluate your process.
